This stone built end terrace cottage is one of the ten or so properties which make up the very peaceful hamlet of Pontfaen, just 5 miles north of Brecon accessed through the country lanes. It is a haven for wildlife and bird watching and ideal for walking and cycling.
The cottage has an open lounge on the ground floor with a kitchen and dining area. There is a sofa bed and two armchairs. There is a raised hearth with log burning stove, telephone, WiFi, satellite TV and bookshelves. The kitchen has a microwave, fridge, gas hob, oven and central heating combi boiler which supplies instant hot water and heating to radiators in all the rooms. On the first floor there is a small double bedroom overlooking the river with exposed roof timbers. There is also a second small single bedroom containing bunk beds. The bathroom has a bath and a shower.
The riverside patio at the rear of the cottage overlooks the river Yscir Fawr and is a wonderful vantage point to observe the salmon migration during the autumn spawning season. The patio and river also attracts numerous birds and wildlife - red kites and buzzards can often be seen circling overhead and otters have been seen at dusk in the river.
On the opposite side of the road and at the confluence of the two rivers, the Yscir Fawr and Yscir Fechan is a separate parking and garden area which has been landscaped and paved and includes steps leading down to the river’s edge. This south facing garden features a compass patio, a shed and a seating area.
